Client Testimonials: Experiences with The Island Chef

What My Clients Say

Testimonial means – a formal statement testifying to someone’s character and qualifications. The experiences with the Island Chef and client testimonials, this is what they mean to me.

The best measure of any cook is not only the food on the plate. It’s also how people feel around the table. Whether I am teaching a class, cooking a private dinner, or catering a celebration, the goal is the same. I aim to create great food that brings people together. It makes an occasion feel special. To get a testimonial from a client is the best result ever.

For years, cooking for clients across the south of England, now more recently on the Isle of Wight, has been my privilege. I plan and deliver birthday dinners and surprise parties with care. Buffets for forty or more guests, quiet family gatherings, and moments of remembrance each carry their own weight. I take that seriously.

I have learned something significant from fifteen years as a personal chef and caterer. The food is only part of it. Clear communication before the event is crucial. Being flexible when plans change is important. Attention to dietary needs is essential. Leaving a clean kitchen behind at the end of the night is necessary. These things matter just as much as the menu. My clients tell me so, and I listen.

The reviews on this page come from actual events, real people, and genuine moments. It ranges from a Mexican feast for forty in Berkshire to a three-course surprise dinner for a 30th birthday. It also includes a buffet for a funeral commemoration, handled with care and patience. Finally, birthday celebrations here in Freshwater are all part of this. Each event is a trust placed in me, which I do not take lightly.

I am proud that so many clients have recommended me to friends and family. My work has always been based on personal recommendations and testimonials. When someone mentions the pork pie or the chocolate torte, it matters to me. A spotless kitchen means more than any advertisement.

Are you thinking about booking a personal chef or a private catering event? I hope what you read here gives you confidence. I am happy to discuss your ideas. Whether you have a plan or have an occasion in mind with no clue where to start. That is fine. Planning for and cooking good food, enjoying the party are what matter to me.

Here are some testimonials I have had from my clients!

Maybe I can cook for you or with you in the future.

My pork pie made from five cuts of pork

Delicious food, lots of it and excellent service.

We had Crostini starters to keep everyone happy and then a great buffet selection with some sweet dishes as well. All of the food was hand-cooked and delicious. The pork pie and chocolate torte were amazing. All of my guests were very happy with the food. It was also very easy to eat. I highly recommend Paul.

Trio of desserts

Brilliant service – would use again!

I booked The Island Chef for a 40th birthday party meal and I can’t recommend him enough. Paul’s communication was great throughout, accommodating menu and number changes. On the evening itself the food was fabulous, enjoyed by all and we were completely looked after by Paul and his wife. I wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

Limoncello Creme brulee, triple chocolate brownie, Normandy apple tart

Would 100% recommend!

We had a fantastic experience with Paul, he was super communicative and the food was great!

Tiger prawns with chilli sauce and herbs

Made a great evening perfect.

A superb 3 course dinner for my wife’s surprise 30th! Paul was fantastic designing the menu with me beforehand, even tailoring it for one of our guests gluten-free allergies. Before the event, Paul was always quick to respond. Answering any questions and being fully flexible to how I exactly wanted the evening. On the night Paul and his wife were fantastic. Even bringing ingredients grown in their own garden adding a personal touch.

Bagels with herbs

Delicious food

We hire The Island Chef for a party at home. We had a useful meeting with the owner/chef Paul Bellchambers a few weeks before and he brought some starter and pudding tasters for us to try. Paul arrived promptly to set up on the day of the party, and with his two staff created a wonderful Mexican meal for 40 people. The food was delicious. afterwards the kitchen was immaculate which was a treat for us not to have to do the following day!
