Become the Chef of Your Kitchen Today!

Educator, chef and writer.

I am an educator, chef, writer and lover of cooking!

Are you intimidated by a recipe? Do you know why you follow the order in the recipe? Why do chefs prepare everything before cooking? Do you know the difference between a paring knife and a cooks knife? Why would you julienne vegetables?

Would like to learn to enjoy cooking and learning about food, ingredients, techniques and skills?

Learn how to become the Chef in your Kitchen!

You can learn the WHY behind cooking techniques so you can cook with confidence, adapt any recipe, and create great food without the stress.

The Island Chef post

I’m Paul Bellchambers – and I’ve spent 25 years teaching people to cook with confidence.

My Background

  • Two years at Reading University gaining a City & Guilds Diploma in Professional Catering
  • Worked at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons (Raymond Blanc’s 2-Michelin-star restaurant)
  • Taught at WI Cookery School, Denman College (managed the school for 6 months)
  • Private chef for 15 years, with many repeat clients and events
  • Guild of Food Writers member (served on committee for 6 years)
  • Founded the Wallingford Food Festival in 2011 and ran it for 5 years (3 Tourism South East awards)
  • BBC Radio Oxford chef (2011-2015, The Afternoon Show)
  • 25 years as professional chef, teacher, and food educator

Why I am different?

But here’s what really matters: I changed careers from IT to cooking at 48. I learned as an adult. I know the frustration of feeling incompetent in your own kitchen.

That’s why I don’t teach like other chefs. I teach understanding, not just instructions.

  • Every week, you’ll get ONE technique that will genuinely improve your cooking. Not recipes. Not life stories. Just practical teaching that helps you understand WHY things work.
  • 5-7 minute reads, tips and guidance you can use
  • Available worldwide via the website
  • Free to sign-up, £10/month or £100/year for full access to all content and courses
  • Subscribe to Be the Chef in your Kitchen – my online cookery school.

Based on the Isle of Wight, teaching online everywhere!

Personal Chef Services

We asked Paul to cater a 70th birthday dinner at our rental property for 15. It was outstanding. Fussy adults / picky children. All were catered for without question and everything was demolished. Wholly recommend.
