Blogging and Podcasting

Posted on July 27, 2023August 7, 2023 by The Island Chef

Since moving to the IoW in 2020, I am doing more writing, blogging and podcasting. I started a podcast, became a presenter on Sunshine Radio IOW, the hospital radio for St Mary’s in Newport, and invested in this new website. The podcast was an idea based on my searching for food and drink producers here on the island. I started looking for local ingredients and found meat, fish, and locally grown vegetables and fruit. Finding suppliers of local staples like eggs, milk and cheeses, bread and many others that I can incorporate into the menus that I create for my clients.

Blogging and podcasting

The radio presenting has been fun, and it has helped me learn a new set of skills in order to put a show together. My show is called Music and Food, in which I play my favourite music and talk about a couple of recipes. The studios are great and they are fun to work in. Click here to listed to Sunshine Radio IoW! The station is open from 10am through to 2am. Lots of brilliant shows and music!

I am also going to write about the food I cook for the clients that I do private chef work for. This includes going through some menus, how I work with a client to define the menu, and then delivering the event itself. I have been fortunate in working for clients in some amazing properties on the Isle of Wight, with varying quality kitchens and equipment. The clients have all been great people to cook for and helpful too when needed!

Asian Salad

From salads to desserts and using a wide range of recipes, I have built an extensive repertoire of dishes to offer clients. I hope you find this interesting and many of the recipes will be available on the recipes page.

So more blogging and podcasting to come! What the topic will be is always down to what is happening on the day. The podcast had a schedule of episodes so I kind of know what is happening there. And the radio is a regular weekly happening!
